The mythic island of Crete

Crete is the place where myths look like history and history is like a myth. From the distant past to the present day, every place on the island has a short or long story to tell.

Live the essence and the heartbeat of the Island from dawn till dusk and discover…… Your Crete!!

Crete has everything you that could possibly want from holidays: soaring mountains that are snow capped from November to June, many great walking trails including Europe's deepest gorge, ancient archaeological sites and Minoan palaces, quaint villages, glorious wild flowers, sparkling springs, blue and turquoise waters of the sea, golden beaches, tavernas serving freshly caught fish and a variety of delicious foods which are all made from healthy home grown produce.

As incredible as the island is, it is the Cretan people who will make your holiday truly memorable. Descendants of the Minoan's, one of Europe's earliest civilizations, and shaped by centuries of struggle against oppression, the Cretans are as rugged as the mountains, fiercely independent but passionately friendly.

The Name

The Villa was named ‘’Kapare’’ by the area where it stands, which was named Kapare because of the caper bushes (Capparis spinosa) that were growing thoroughly there in the past.

Capparis spinosa, the caper bush, also called Flinders rose, is a perennial plant that bears rounded, fleshy leaves and large white to pinkish-white flowers. The plant is best known for the edible flower buds (capers), often used as a seasoning, and the fruit (caper berries), both of which are usually consumed pickled. Other parts of Capparis plants are used in the manufacture of medicines and cosmetics.

Capers, is a plant popular by the ancient Greeks, who were eating it as a starter. The buds of the caper and the caper leaves are used in many recipes, especially in salads and cold appetizers dishes. In Greece it is eaten sprinkled on Greek Salad and cooked with the local aubergines, peppers, courgettes and tomatoes.
